The RT18 Memorial was established as a way of recognizing an incredible young man who was taken far too soon. His family felt they needed to do something to celebrate, honour, and remember him. This is what Ryan deserved — one complete day dedicated to him, while also giving back to the community where he grew up in his honour.

Ryan’s family’s “new normal,” as people often call it, may be new, but it is far from normal. At times they smile and laugh, but beneath it all is a pain that cannot truly be understood unless it has been experienced.

This day brings them a little light and an opportunity to share stories, memories, and conversations about their boy. If there is one thing they hope people take away from this day, it is to always cherish your family and friends, because you never know what the next minute, hour, or day may bring.
